According to Lincoln Crawley, Managing director of the Manpower Group, Australian employers are now seeking skilled workers overseas in order to fill skill shortages.
“Employers need to take a sophisticated approach to manage their talent supply and demand, in order to win the escalating war for talent”, Mr. Crawley said. He added that Australia should get used to the idea of a borderless workforce and open more opportunities for foreign workers to meet the shortage in skills.
Based on the research made on Borderless Workforce in 2011, it shows that foreign skilled workers play a major role in the ‘engineers’ and ‘skilled manual trade’ categories and are currently dominated by citizens from the UK, India, and South Africa.
Western Australia is now leading the country with 47 percent of employers using foreigners in their workforce.
